July 11, 2016, New York, NY., –The Estate of Yogi Berra and Steiner Sports have signed an exclusive representation agreement with Beanstalk, a global licensing agency headquartered in New York, for advertising and media campaigns. Yogi Berra is one of the most iconic and beloved sports figures of all time, having played Major League Baseball for 19 seasons and managed teams such as the New York Yankees, New York Mets and Houston Astros. Berra was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.
Famous for his witty one-liners and malapropisms, many of his quotes have been appropriated into the lexicon as everyday figures of speech. Some of his famous quotes include “It ain’t over ‘til it’s over,” and “The future ain’t what it used to be.” His sayings have lovingly been coined “Yogi-ism.s”
“Yogi Berra’s success as a baseball superstar embodied the American dream,” said Allison Ames, President and CEO of Beanstalk. “He is a beloved national treasure and his witty phrases are so well known, they’ve become part of the vernacular.”
“The family is thrilled to be partnering with Beanstalk,” said Dale Berra, Yogi’s son and a former Major League Baseball player. Ed Schauder, EVP of Licensing & General Counsel at Steiner Sports, a sports marketing firm and the exclusive product licensing agent for the Berra estate added, “Leveraging Beanstalk’s expertise in media and advertising complements our work and adds significant value to the Yogi Berra brand.”
Beanstalk will represent the personality rights of the athletic icon for use in advertising, media, and long-term brand associations.
